Dr Anand is a neonatologist, a highly specialised type of paediatrician who only cares for newborn babies and infants.

After growing up in Brisbane and studying medicine at The University of Queensland, Anand completed his paediatric training at Queensland Children’s Hospital and went on to pursue advanced training in neonatology. He worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units of Mater Mother’s Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital, as well as in the statewide Neonatal Retrieval Service at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Anand has significant expertise in caring for babies born prematurely and those with congenital abnormalities. When issues are detected during pregnancy, he has specialised experience with providing antenatal counselling to families as well as comprehensive care during and after birth for these higher-risk infants. Anand is also extensively experienced with caring for babies facing unexpected difficulties after birth. Having looked after critically unwell infants, he can provide the highest level of specialised care for any babies requiring unexpected help after birth.

Anand also has extensive experience managing infants through the first two years of life with a wide variety of issues. He has particular expertise with infants facing early developmental issues, having worked in specialised neonatal clinics focusing on the growth and development of extremely premature and otherwise high-risk infants. He is happy to see any infant no matter how simple or complex the issue may be!

Anand’s philosophy towards medicine and life in general is to be optimistic, positive and kind. He understands how precious a baby is to its family and how challenging it can be when unexpected problems arise, regardless of how big or small they might be. He values spending extra time with families so they can feel as informed and comfortable as possible.

Outside of work, Anand has two beautiful children Isabelle and Oliver and his wife Alyssa is a neonatal nurse. He enjoys keeping fit, watching sports and spending as much time as he can with his little ones. His family moved to the Gold Coast for his training and they have enjoyed it so much that they have decided to stay! Anand is excited to provide a unique level of care for infants and their families, as the only neonatologist in private practice on the Gold Coast.
