Dr. Ananya Patheja is a Consultant Paediatrician who welcomes all paediatric referrals, with a particular interest in newborn and infant health, paediatric rheumatology and autoimmune disease. She looks forward to helping you navigate the spectrum of childhood illness, using her expertise and dedication to provide optimal outcomes and personalised patient and family centred care. She prides herself on her approachability and warmth, putting her patients and parents at ease when discussing complex and often stressful concerns. She believes in maintaining an open and honest relationship with her patients ensuring they are an integral part of the decision - making process.
Throughout her medical training, Dr. Patheja found wonder in the innocence and resilience of children. She graduated from the prestigious Trinity College Dublin School of Medicine and completed her Internship in Ireland before moving to Australia, undertaking training in Paediatrics across multiple sites serving diverse demographics. These included The Gold Coast University Hospital, Queensland Children's Hospital, Logan Hospital and Hervey Bay Hospital. She garnered extensive experience in general paediatrics as well as paediatric rheumatology. She was fortunate to be selected to pursue a special interest in the latter subspecialty at Queensland Children's Hospital and applies this experience to her patients Leading Steps. She has also developed subspecialty experience in paediatric respiratory medicine, oncology and neurology.
Dr. Patheja has been heavily involved in pre-vocational and vocational medical teaching throughout her career and currently holds the academic title of Lecturer with the University of Queensland. She places a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and keeps up to date with the latest research through regular attendance at educational meetings and both local and international conferences.
Outside of work, Dr. Patheja enjoys cooking and loves exploring various cultures through food. She relaxes with yoga, Pilates, reading and playing the piano. She and her husband love to travel the world with their young son and look forward to watching their family flourish here on the beautiful Gold Coast in the years to come.
